D DIY Project Survey

Q: How much previous construction experience do you have?
A: Three years as a superintendent with a small commercial contractor. I have performed various residential projects over the past 14 years.

Q. How would you describe The Deck Store materials?
A: Excellent.

Q: If you were running The Deck Store, what would you change?
A: Provide basic steps in deck building — something more than just a set of plans. You guys were always available for questions, and provided the Deck Book, but a basic step-by-step (a couple page pamphlet) would be helpful.

Q: If you were running The Deck Store, what would you keep the same?
A: The service, the hours, the expertise, the products.

Q: What would you say about the services offered by The Deck Store?
A: Excellent.

Q: How useful were our custom AutoCad drawings?
A: They were helpful, but some additional dimensions would have been great.

Q: How accurate was the material estimate to actual construction; did you have a return?
A: Very close. I used up almost all of my deck boards and returned some framing boards, rail posts, and pickets.

Q: Were you able to promptly communicate with us to answer questions or make additional deliveries during your project?
A: Yes.

Q: What was your greatest challenge?
A: The mid-level landing and the stairs.

Q: How long did it take you to create your deck?
A: Three weekends and a couple of days during the week — probably eight days total (mostly by myself).
